Russia’s Mechel fails to agree on debt settlement with Sberbank

MOSCOW, Dec 17 (PRIME) -- Russian metals and mining company Mechel has not reached an agreement on debt settlement with one of its largest creditors Sberbank so far, a spokesperson for the bank told PRIME on Thursday.

On Wednesday, CEO of Mechel Oleg Korzhov said that the text of an agreement on debt restructuring with Sberbank had been preliminarily authorized by the bank and the deal can be signed soon.

The spokesperson said: “The agreements have not been reached yet.” Any comments regarding the negotiation details would be premature, the person added.
